Hello 2A!!!!

You have given me your issues.. well most of you that is. I'm wondering whether you know how to present your sculpture in a way that will make people think about your issue. You can think about your choice of materials, your presentation, the site for display.

Since the theme of this project is Environment, I could perhaps use waste or recycled materials like candy wrappers, bottles etc. This will help to create awareness among people as they can see how they can create something useful out of the waste material that they throw away everyday in their life. As for the presentation, I can create a base at the bottom to support the sculpture which may be quite unstable. To make it stands out, I can use paints to colour it in an attractive manner that looks appealing to the eyes and add intensity to it, making what seems like a boring piece of art to look “alive”. I can place the sculpture outdoor and maybe group them together with the works of other friends who are doing similar issue as me.

Since my issue is mostly going to be about air pollution which is caused by either Man or nature, I am thinking of using materials which are associated with the emission of these harmfuls chemicals whether naturally or artificially. For examples like recycled materials from used manufactured goods which indirectly are the factors that lead to the release of these detrimental chemicals.I intend to place my soon-to-be sculpture in a conspicuous place where it can be seen and helps to bring out the message that I want to convey through the artwork-hopefully the place can help to make people think that my sculpture is about how Man's actions can lead to disastrous consequences.
thank you

My issue is on the lose of habitat of animals, and my choice of material would be used items like toilet rolls, water bottles, etc.I would present my sculpture with a variety of striking colours to attract attention. The site of display would probably be in the patch of grass at the new block.

Since my theme is about ice bergs melting which causes sea level to rise, i will be using materials like water bottles, or bottle caps. I would present my sculpture in a way that it shows the action of ice berg melting which causes the sea level to rise. This can be placed near sea which tells others that due to global warming, ice bergs are melting and sea level has been increasing.

Since the theme of this art project is about the environment,I should use recycled materials to make my sculpture. My issue is on the release of harmful gases into the environment.I think I can use strings to show the release of gases by the factories. As for the factory,I can use recycled materials like the plastic water bottles and other recycled materials to make my sculpture.I would also use attractive colours to paint my sculpture to make the sculpture stand out and attract people's attention and when they spot it,they can think about the issue of my sculpture.I will place my sculpture in the open field next to the canteen or some other outdoors places.

Since the theme that I'm going to do about is how marine litter is affecting marine animals, I will include materials that are commonly found at beaches, such as plastic bags and plastic bottles. I will try to "enlarge" my sculpture so that it will be easier to spot and will look more suitable with the materials that I am working with. I guess I will most probably place it near the fish pond in our school, because that's the only place in our school which is related to marine life.

since the environmental issue I am focusing on is deforestation,I feel that the awareness is on trees and animals harmed.so I think that I would use twigs and leaves to arrange and colour them brightly into a sculpture next to one of the many trees in the school to show that "hey a tree is not that boring!protect it!"

Since my issue is on marine life,I think I will collect recycled materials like bottle caps, glass bottles and maybe chopsticks and things that I can find at the beach.Maybe I can collect some sea shells to show how beautiful the beach and the ocean was before and add some rubbish like glass bottles and nets.I can add some striking colours to attract the people. I can place my sculpture near the fish pond in the school to convey my message to them.

My issue is on How people are destroying the environment by pollution and how are people trying to counter it. I think I can use old coloured papers for the'rubbish' and perhaps green celophane paper for grass and leaves.
The structure can be made up of bamboo sticks, chopsticks and satay sticks. If possible, I hope that I can express my message clearly.:)

My issue is about effects of water pollution on the marine life and birds. Thus, i think i would collect recycled materials like bottle caps, plastic bag & containers which marine life & the birds near the sea are usually caught in.
I'll place it near the pond of our school. thus when student walk past, they'll notice how harmful water pollution is.

Since i'm doing on sea pollution, i think i would use recycle materials for my sculptures. I think it is good using recycled materials as if I were to buy the materials, these materials might become rubbish in the past and might end up in the sea. Therefore, we are not making any efforts to reduce sea pollution and at the same time, we are creating pollution to the sea. Thus, recycled materials like plastic bag and bottle caps would be the most ideal type of materials

My environmental issue is about oil spill, killing many marine animals and birds. I want to create a bird sculpture which its feathers are stick together. I will use recycled materials or things that are unwanted like fallen twigs. It helps reduce rubbish and also, it is relevant to briging out my idea. -Joanne (13) 2A

I would probably use recycled materials to make my sculpture, since the theme of this project is somehow concerning to saving the environment. Objects related to my issue, marine pollution, can also be used. I would make my sculpture as attractive as possible, by maybe using striking colours and stuff. I will place my sculpture that is conspicuous so that people will easily notice it and hopefully understand the message I'm trying to convey.

given the theme of environmental awareness about water pollution and its degenerative and detrimental effects, i will use recycled materials, usually those commonly dumped in canals/seas etc.these will consist of plastic bottles, glass bottles, plastic bags, styrofoam boxes etc. if i can incorperate kinetic forms in my sculpture, i would probably make all these litter very messy at first. but when it rains(puts emphasis on Water), maybe a conatiner will contain the water and activate a mechanism to create movement and slowly form the image of an earth covered with mostly polluted and murky water

My environmental issue is oil spills. So maybe i can use black garbage bags because they resemble the oil. Also oil is slick and shiny so maybe i can use lacquer/sprays to make the effect more "BOOMZ" . I can maybe place my sculpture beside the pond(or IN the pond. It'll be a new sight for the fishies and also other people. Adiosss ! ((((((((:

My environmental issue is on Endangered Species. So maybe I can use unwanted and clean newspapers to make a Paper Mache Art(is this how I spell it?)!!!!! This allows me to make a 3D sculpture. I will paint the sculpture with BRIGHT BRIGHT colours. I will place my sculpture in a sheltered and noticeable place. If I can create a kinetic sculpture, I would place a sensor on the sculpture, so when someone walks past it, it will either move a little/raise its paws or feets. This will attract passer-bys attention and convey the message of saving the endangered species through an interactive manner.

my issue is on oil spills, so i came up with several ideas.
i wanted to make the bird (little egret) with black splats on it, and oil up to its knees.
and the bird will have its wings outstretched, showing one wing like dipped in oil (like death, poison...you know..the bad parts)and the other one pure white :P
maybe ill use those plastic drink bottles that everyone throws away as its body, then cover it with my brother's old sch uniform (he was from dunman, graduated...) as feathers and other white materials. then the neck...i can use something bendable..( wire?) for its legs & neck. but back to the main point..:
the oil spats will show how ugly oil spills are.
the wing with the oil on it will show how the bird is dying, how poisonous oil spills can be to animals.
the other white wing, on the other hand, will show how alive these animals are..how free they were, before getting caught up in oil spills...its contradiction, you see...
very emotional.
you get it?

my theme would be endangered animals...:
seeing how the selfish actions of humans really irritates me . Not that im a perfect person or anything but its just irritating to see how selfish humans can be.
Since the causes of endangered animals are mostly due to over excessiving poaching and oso due to the loss of habitats because of environmental damage.
i was thinking perhaps i could make a structure wif my best attempt at making it look like an endangered animal, wif part of its body missing/damaged to show poaching using bottles or other plastics since they are easy to shape. while teh other remaining of the struction to show some kind of environmental damage.... noidea what...

My theme is deforestation (changed from last time). My sculpture is made from wire mesh into a tree trunk and waste paper are being thrown into it. Wire tree branches are also attached to it.
My sculpture means that people are giving back the environment in the wrong way (throwing waste paper) when they have taken so much from the environment without thinking twice what will happen if trees were gone.
It cant be placed at outdoor as paper is not waterproof, maybe it can be placed in the art room or hall.
